Question regarding over-saturation in the field of law?

On October 15, 2009 / By Real Estate Law Help / In Real-Estate-Attorneys

I am thinking about becoming an attorney when I grow up. I’m pretty smart, so I think that even the keen competition won’t keep me from getting hired for long. However, I would love to know if there are any existing fields in law (divorce, real estate), that are less saturated and that one might benefit from going into. Thank you.

Despite the usual statement that there are too many lawyers, I don’t believe that is true. There are far too many people who need lawyers and don’t see them when they should, and if even a portion of them actually retained counsel — even if just for a simple will — there would be the hue and cry about not enough! I am not aware of any particular area of law that has a true glut, so choose what you would enjoy doing!

Listen to previous-posters "kapn" and "AJ" - they are right on target.

Look into the vocational field of Healthcare - that’s where the jobs are.

In a down economy, criminal defense and bankruptcy are some options, but the clients are less likely to pay you and it’s not as much as you’d make in a large firm.
