Oregon Real Estate Law: Selling a rental property?

On May 9, 2008 / By Real Estate Law Help / In Oregon-Real-Estate-Law

Under Oregon State Real Estate Laws, isn’t a landlord required to notify their tenants if they put the rental property up for sale? I know that they have to give a minimum 24 hour notice of entry to show any prospective buyer your rental unit, but I need to know if they are supposed to let the tenants know that the property is for sale.

Sorry to say but the answer is no. I work for a national real estate firm and we buy and sell rental property across the US. It is not ever necessary to notify the tenants of a sale.

    Sorry -

Please dont hold it against me - please dont forget to pick me as your best answer ;-)

I don’t offer property management services, but I don’t recall any required notification to the tenant that the property is for sale.

The 24 hour notice is required to show, you are correct on that.
