Anyone know about real estate laws in New York concerning apartments?

On June 22, 2008 / By Real Estate Law Help / In New-York-Real-Estate-Law

I’ve been living with friends since September but not on the lease in Brooklyn. Landlord is now saying I must leave by Saturday and that they will charge my friends extra for every month I’ve been here. What can I do?

How long have you lived there. some apartments are not allowed to be rented and the landlord has the right to charge them more and kick them out if they voilate the agrrement they have. You need to talk to the person you are leasing from.

Exactly. Whatever is in the "original lease agreement" is what will stand. The Super is within his or her rights if you are in violation of that agreement. I agree with the lessor if you are at fault.
